Peridot is created from volcanic action. It's bright lime green hue can sometimes be found washed up in the sands of Hawaii. In addition to being the birthstone of August, peridot is also the accepted stone of the 16th wedding anniversary.

Traces of peridot have actually been found in meteorites, making it one of the only gemstones known to exsist outside of our solar system.
MYTH:
Peridot is thought to banish evil spirits and proctect is wearer from dangers in the night.
Ancient Egyptions mined peridot only at night, for they believed that it was not easily seen during the day and glowed in the dark.
